Police continue to probe Bartlett crash cause
An Elgin man was still hospitalized Saturday after suffering injuries in a two-car crash Friday in Bartlett.
Christopher J. Musatto, 38, was listed in serious condition at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Police said it appears he lost control of his 1971 Ford Mustang and crossed over into the westbound lanes of Lake Street near Old Lake Street around 8 a.m.
The eastbound Mustang was hit on the passenger's side by a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 27-year-old woman from South Elgin. She was not injured but the Mustang went into a ditch on the north side of the road.
Police are still investigating what caused the accident, but alcohol did not play a factor nor did weather, officials said. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The speed changes from 40 mph to 45 mph in the vicinity of the crash. Lake Street was closed for 90 minutes between Route 59 and North Bartlett Road
