Teens arrested in school burglary
O'FALLON -- Police say eight teenagers have been arrested and more are expected to be taken into custody in a burglary last weekend of a grade school in southwestern Illinois.
Investigators say the teens, ages 15 through 17, allegedly broke into Laverna Evans School in O'Fallon and took several computer monitors, personal electronics, a television set and some candy.
No charges have yet been filed.
School workers discovered the burglary and reported it to police about 7 a.m. Monday.
The school district's superintendent says the culprits smashed a window, broke the candy machine and ransacked several teachers' desk.
She estimated the damage to be between $2,000 and $5,000.
