Elgin man badly hurt in Bartlett crash

An Elgin man was seriously injured in a crash Friday morning in Bartlett.

Christopher J. Musatto, 38, of Elgin, was driving his 1971 Mustang eastbound on Lake Street when his vehicle crossed the center line and was struck by a white Ford F-150 driven by Lisa M. Helgerson, 27, of South Elgin, Bartlett police said.

The impact of the collision sent Musatto's Mustang into an embankment on the north side of the road, officials said.

Paramedics took him to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

Lake Street was shut down in both directions between North Bartlett Road and Route 59 for about 90 minutes.

Bartlett police were still investigating the crash later Friday and no citations had been issued.
