Go on an Elgin bar crawl for more than a good time
The 2009 Elgin Restaurant and Bar Crawl will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 25. Starting off in DuPage Court, this annual event is being hosted by Sin for Charity and Sands Events. The two organizations have joined together to raise funds to help support a larger event in August that will benefit Little Angels of Elgin. Cost for the Bar Crawl is $10 per person.
Thousands of attendees will be participating in the event. Entertainment will be provided by Dead Cat Bounce and at 8:45 p.m., crawlers will be directed to eight local establishments for a night of fun. Participating restaurants and bars are Mad Maggie's, Villa Verone, Medusa's, La Puesta del Sol, Gasthaus, Red Bar Winery, Douglas Street and Martini Room.
Each ticket purchased will be entered into a raffle for great prizes, many donated by local businesses. Prizes include a Sony 52-inch BRAVIA V Series LCD flat panel HDTV, Sony BRAVIA home theater system, front row tickets to an event at Allstate Arena, tanning from Cabana Tan and other items.
The August event hosted by Sin for Charity and Sands Events titled "Make A Jamaica" will also take place in Elgin and all proceeds will benefit Little Angels. Little Angels is a home for children and young adults with severe disabilities and complex medical needs. It is a state-of-the-art facility offering round-the-clock skilled nursing, therapeutic and rehabilitation services in a warm, caring environment. Founded in 1958 by Elgin residents Pat and Bob Wasmond, Little Angels may not be a home in the traditional sense, but it does provide the most important aspects that make a home - love, care and support. Little Angels also operates the Cathy Freeman Center for Developmental Training, a dynamic therapeutic day program for young adults with severe disabilities. Little Angels and the adjacent center are located on Route 58 on the eastern edge of Elgin.
