Aurora man charged in weekend shooting
A 22-year-old Aurora man was being held Wednesday on $1 million bond after being charged with a weekend shooting in a fast-food restaurant parking lot, police said.
Edgar W. Talbert of the 1300 block of Monomoy Street was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, a Class-X felony, police said. He's accused of shooting a 23-year-old man in the stomach around 3 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot at 1219 North Lake St.
Police said the shooting occurred after the victim fought with a 25-year-old Aurora man who was with Talbert. Following the altercation, Talbert allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim from the driver's seat of an SUV.
Talbert and the other man then fled.
Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said Talbert and the victim knew each other but Ferrelli declined to say what the two were fighting about.
The victim was taken to an Aurora hospital by friends and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The 25-year-old was arrested without incident later Sunday at a hotel in the 2400 block of North Farnsworth Avenue, police said. He was held for a short time and later released without charges.
Talbert was arrested Tuesday night in the 7000 block of South Kedzie in Chicago after police received a tip to his whereabouts.
Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to call them at (630) 801-6655 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
