Mom charged with prostitution, endangering kids in Arlington Heights

A mother of two was charged with prostitution and two counts of child endangerment after leaving her kids alone in a hotel room while she met up with a potential customer on Friday, according to the Arlington Heights police.

The woman, Desiree M. Rosas, 25, of Las Vegas, posted an online ad looking for men willing to pay for sex, police said. Arlington Heights police sent an undercover officer to meet Rosas at around 6 p.m. on Friday at a motel on the 400 block of West Algonquin Road, said Sgt. Mike Hernandez.

"In her ad, she talked about offering her services in the Arlington Heights area," Hernandez said. "Obviously, an ad like that is going to draw our attention."

Rosas told police a friend was watching her two daughters, ages 4 and 3, in another motel room. When police arrived, however, the children were alone, Hernandez said.

The girls were brought to the police station and later released to one of Rosas' friends, Hernandez said. Rosas later posted bond and was released, he added.

Rosas had an identical arrest - prostitution and two counts of endangering the life and health of a child - in Des Planes on June 26, Hernandez said.

Rosas has July 28 and Aug. 4 court dates in Rolling Meadows.
