Libertyville man gets probation for drug conviction
A Libertyville man was placed on 30 months probation Tuesday for his second conviction for delivery of marijuana.
Lake County Circuit Judge Fred Foreman told Eddie Anderson, 50, that a prison term looms in his future should he wind up back in court.
"This is literally your last chance," Foreman told Williams. "Stay away from the weed."
Assistant State's Attorney Scott Hoffert said Williams, who listed several addresses in Libertyville in court records, was arrested Nov. 21, 2007 in an apartment in the 300 block of Wright Avenue in Libertyville.
Police responding to a domestic violence report found Williams with a small amount of marijuana and a laptop computer that was listed as stolen in a car burglary.
Williams told police he had traded some marijuana for the laptop and other electronic items found in the apartment that were also listed as stolen.
Hoffert agreed to drop a charge of possession of stolen property in exchange for Williams' guilty plea to delivery of marijuana.
That guilty plea violated Williams' probation from a 2003 conviction for selling three pounds of marijuana to undercover police.
Foreman also ordered Williams to spend 18 months in home confinement and to perform 300 hours of public service.
