PGA Tour's Streelman coming to Cantigny for special event
A special homecoming is on tap when native son and PGA Tour professional Kevin Streelman will conduct a complementary session targeting junior golfers at the Cantigny Golf Academy in Wheaton on Friday, Aug. 7.
Cantigny Golf, part of the McCormick Foundation, and the Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) are hosting the special event featuring the second-year pro.
Streelman, a Wheaton native and a former Cantigny Golf employee, will speak about his journey from Illinois junior golf to the PGA Tour and answer questions from the young players on hand.
"I'm extremely excited about coming home to host my first professional clinic at the course where I learned to play," Streelman said. "To be able to give back and help out those on similar paths as mine means everything to me. Please come out to Cantigny and help me support the IJGA and junior golfers all across our state."
A raffle benefitting IJGA, of which Streelman is an alumnus, will give registered junior golfers the chance to play golf with Streelman or caddie for him on the day of the event. In addition, six essay contest winners will enjoy lunch with Kevin and his wife, Courtney. Raffle and essay contest details are posted on the IJGA web site.
"This will be an exciting day at Cantigny Golf, especially for our many junior players," said Mike Nass, executive director.
Online registration at IJGA.org for the Aug. 7 event is highly recommended.
