Driver won't be charged after crashing into Lake Zurich business
An elderly woman who crashed her car into Curves Fitness Center in Lake Zurich will not be charged, police said Tuesday.
Cmdr. Kevin Finlon of the Lake Zurich Police Department said the 65-year-old woman drove a Buick into the establishment at 41 S. Rand Road at 10:05 a.m. Saturday, injuring two people who were working out at the fitness center.
He said, however, insurance companies are handling the issue and the woman would not be cited. Because she won't be charged, police are not releasing the driver's name.
"She pushed the wrong pedal and the car lurched froward," he said. "It seems to be an honest mistake and the insurance companies are handling it."
The injured were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Barrington and were treated and released.
Curves remains closed while repairs are completed.
