Schaumburg man charged with soliciting a minor online

A Schaumburg man was in DuPage County jail Monday on charges of indecent solicitation of a child.

Carol Stream police arrested Joseph Morganti, 23, on July 17 after he contacted what he thought was a 15-year-old girl on the Internet and scheduled a meeting to have sex with her, authorities said. The girl turned out to be a police officer.

Police said Morganti initiated contact through online exchanges and expressed a desire to meet the girl for sex. When he arrived at the prearranged meeting location in Carol Stream, officers arrested Morganti and seized his vehicle and mobile phone.

Officials also executed a search warrant at his residence to seize his personal computer.

Jail authorities said he remains in custody following a hearing Sunday, where his bond was set at $150,000.
