San Antonio Silver Stars at Chicago Sky
When: 5 p.m.
Where: UIC Pavilion
TV: NBA TV, Comcast CN100
Recent results: On Friday, San Antonio lost to the Connecticut Sun, 72-64; on Wednesday, Chicago lost to the Indiana Fever, 84-74.
Skinny: The Sky plays four of its next five games at home and desperately needs to right the ship after going 1-5 since the start of July-The Silver Stars defeated Chicago in San Antonio on July 3 to start that skid but the Sky was without starting center Sylvia Fowles, who missed five of those six games with a sore knee and a bad shoulder. The Sky's one win during that stretch - against Seattle - came with Fowles in the lineup. Fowles' status is day-to-day. She is averaging nearly 12 points and 9 rebounds a game-The Silver Stars, the defending Western Conference champions, are also battling the injury bug. Starting center Ruth Riley (9.2 ppg, 6.5 rpg) injured her Achilles tendon late in the first half of Friday's Connecticut game and never returned. She is also questionable for today's game-Like the Sky, the Silver Stars boast two players who will be starters in next weekend's all-star game in Connecticut: guard Becky Hammon (19 ppg) and forward Sophia Young (17.3 ppg). Fowles and Sky forward Candice Dupree (15.8 ppg) were named starters for the Eastern Conference.
Up next: New York Liberty at Sky, 11:30 a.m. Wednesday
