Bill for energy bill will come later

I would like to add my two cents to the excellent Fencepost letter from Wayne Oras Sr. titled "Energy laws are unreasonable taxation."

In it he makes brief mention of the pending Cap and Trade bill which was passed in the House. On the surface this is an anti-pollution measure. Who isn't for that? However, like so many things, the devil is in the details.

Unfortunately, hardly anyone knows what the details are. Little or no debate was allowed. It contains more than 300 pages that few congressmen have read and the public is not aware of. It was larded with pork and concessions in order to gain passage and the cost benefit trade off is unknowable.

It will certainly layer on costs to utilities across the country and will be an administrative nightmare. Guess who will ultimately pay for this higher expense in the form of higher electric bills? We the people. Will it work? Nobody knows.

We will find this out billions of dollars and years later. Thank you Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Their bill should soon be passed and our bill for this will come later in the mail.
