Teen cop wannabe gets probation

A teenager who pleaded guilty to impersonating a Chicago police officer and later pretending to be a grown-up to steal a car from a dealership has been placed on probation.

The 15-year-old boy pleaded guilty in May. At a hearing Thursday, he was placed on probation by a judge who also ordered that he serve 30 days of home confinement and participate in a mentoring program and in-home therapy.

In January, the boy, whose name isn't being released because he's a juvenile, went into a police station wearing a uniform and went on patrol and assisted in an arrest.

While still under electronic monitoring, the teen dressed in a suit and stole a Lexus from a dealership after telling sales staff he wanted to go on a test drive.
