Illinois man gets 7 years in drunken driving death
A 27-year-old Bridgeview man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for a vehicle wreck that left a 10-year-old Morris girl dead in 2006.
Will County prosecutor James Glasgow announced the sentence on Tuesday for Thomas Fisher. According to Glasgow, Fisher pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol. Glasgow's office had asked Circuit Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak to sentence Fisher to 12 years.
The wreck also injured 10-year-old Viridiana Lopez's 15-year-old brother, Eduardo Lopez of Morris. Police say Fisher's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when his vehicle struck the Lopez van, which was stopped at an intersection.
