St. Charles man charged with child sex abuse
A St. Charles man has been charged with sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl last year in Elgin, police said Monday.
Jorge A. Espinoza, of the 6N500 block of Illinois Street, was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child age 13 to 16. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.
Deputy Elgin Police Chief Jeffrey Swoboda said the abuse happened Oct. 1, 2008, on Elgin's east side. The victim's family recently brought the case to police, he said.
Espinoza had never before been charged with a felony in Kane County, court records show. He was released with a July 23 court date after posting $1,000 in bond money Saturday, according to officials at the county jail.
