Skittish Chicago police dog goes missing again
A Chicago police dog named Bear who was the subject of a citywide search after he went missing for several days in mid-May has once again gone AWOL.
Chicago Police Officer Laura Kubiak says the nearly 3-year-old black and tan German shepherd disappeared from his handler's South Side home on Saturday. She says police are searching for the dog.
Bear scaled a backyard wooden fence in May after he was apparently spooked by thunder. Several days later a passer-by saw him in a cemetery.
The man flagged down a police officer in a squad car. The officer later said that when Bear saw the police car he recognized it and jumped in. The dog was unharmed, but dirty.
