The retiring director of Administer Justice's Low Income Taxpayer clinic will receive her own day of recognition.
The Village of East Dundee has deemed July 14 Audrey Ramos Reed Day.
Reed is retiring from the East Dundee clinic at the end of July. The clinic aims to give legal, tax and education services to those in need. She has served as its director since 2007. According to a news release, in the past two years Reed has assisted thousands of individuals, conducted more than 140 workshops and attended nearly 90 community outreach events.
She also established a number of service partnerships with community organizations to help low income and Hispanic residents.
"Audrey has been a tremendous asset to Administer Justice and we are grateful for her tireless efforts in serving the community," Executive Director Bruce Strom said in the release.
She serves on the board of directors of Sherman Hospital and Sherman Health Systems, the board of trustees of Judson University, board of directors of the Elgin Hispanic Network, board of directors of the Elgin Gang/Drug Task Force and board of directors of the Boy Scouts of America. She also participates in the Circle of Wise Women of Elgin, Elgin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Kane County State's Attorney's Second Chance Panel. Reed also served as the director of Elgin's Centro de Informacion from 1995 to 2006.
The public is invited to Administer Justice offices at 201 Penny Ave. in East Dundee throughout the day Tuesday to pass on well-wishes.
