Quinn using pawns in budget battle
First, our latest governor thinks Illinois citizens will accept his proposed 50 percent income tax increase because he didn't hear any objections while walking in a Park Ridge parade. Now he thinks his plan has support because 5,000 people who's jobs and well-being are tied to state funding showed up at the Capital.
Quinn subscribes to the Create a Crisis to Get Tax Increases Passed method of leadership that elected officials from Illinois have now taken to the national level.
He doesn't dare talk about cutting payments of the more than 3,200 state pension recipients who collect more than $100,000 per year to do nothing from us working taxpayers because those people know better than to show up in public to protest for fear of being lynched.
It's a shame that he's using those most in need of help as pawns in this cruel ploy to shame the public into paying more of their earned money into the corrupt system of Illinois government.
The reason Quinn doesn't see an outpouring of protesters when he talks about an income tax hike is because the people that this affects are busy working and can't take a day off to go to Springfield to be heard.
It's time now to start thinking about candidates for Illinois governor. Sen. Matt Murphy represents the common-sense values that can help get our state back on track.
