Police on alert for missing Carpentersville man
Police are searching for a Carpentersville man they say disappeared nearly a month ago amid domestic issues with his new wife.
Maciej "Matt" Karwacki, 29, was reported missing June 12 after he did not show up for work, said Cmdr. Tim Bosshart, a police spokesman.
"In this economy leaving a job, that's very unusual," Bosshart said.
Karwacki has been married for less than a year and separated from his wife for nearly two months, police said, adding that Karwacki has had no contact with family nor his employer since his disappearance.
He also left his cellular phone behind and withdrew less than $500 from his bank account the day before he vanished, Detective John Spencer said.
Karwacki, a driver for FedEx, had little money when he left and drives a white 2000 Mazda 626 four-door with Illinois license plates displaying Y346818.
Police say Karwacki may have been heading to southern Wisconsin and that the circumstances surrounding his disappearances are suspicious.
"He's an otherwise responsible person and it doesn't seem credible that he would actually just up and leave on his own volition," Spencer said, adding that police are scheduling more interviews with his wife.
Karwacki is white, 6 feet 1 inch and 210 pounds. He speaks English with a Polish accent. When last seen he was clean shaved but is known to wear a goatee.
Anyone who has any information about Karwacki or his whereabouts should call Spencer at (847) 551-3481.
