Disabled hurt by state's bad decisions

On July 1, my daughter was told that she could not attend Clearbrook's Workshop after 22 years, effective immediately, due to the state's cuts for the disabled.

She happens to have always lived at home. She has never taken advantage of programs like Medicaid or food stamps - both of which she was entitled to receive because of her income. What has happened to our American conscience? Or rather what has happened to our elected voices, Illinois senators and representatives?

We now live in a state that has been overspending for decades, with elected officials that think cutting services to those who cannot exist without some help will solve the problem. Think about it. This will only create new and more expensive programs to be paid for by your children and your children's children.

It is truly a shame to have a situation like this occur in the "land of the free and the home of the brave." (Maybe most of the brave and conscionable men and women are off fighting in Iraq so that we are free to make bad decisions.)
