Reservists, families honored July 12
The 85th Support Command will honor 31 soldiers and retirees for their service to the United States in a ceremony on July 12. The Welcome Home Warrior-Citizen ceremony will honor soldiers who have been mobilized within the U.S. or deployed overseas and also recognize their family and employer support.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. July 12, at the Col. Paul G. Schulstad Army Reserve Center, 1515 W. Central Ave., Arlington Heights.
The ceremony acknowledges the professionalism and dedication of Army Reserve soldiers in the 85th Support Command and other local units. The award recognizes their contributions and sacrifices while mobilized.
Brigadier General Marcia Anderson, commander of the 85th Support Command, will provide opening remarks and introductions.
The ceremony will be held in conjunction with Family Day events for the 85th Support Command and the 3rd Brigade, 75th Training Division. About 400 soldiers and their families are expected to attend.
The 85th Support Command conducts administrative support, readiness, and oversight of Army Reserve component forces in the western United States. The unit is commanded by Brigadier General Marcia Anderson; Paul Blanco is the Command Sergeant Major.
Big garage sale to benefit BGHS choir
The Buffalo Grove High School Expressions Show Choir will hold a 50-family garage sale, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 17, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. July 18, at Buffalo Grove High School, 1100 W. Dundee Road, Buffalo Grove.
There will also be a bake sale, car wash and a new item area, along with crafters. This annual event benefits the Expressions and all of the Choral Guild Students at Buffalo Grove High School.
