Large donations accepted at St. Raphael:

St. Raphael Archangel Catholic Church is now accepting large donations for its annual rummage sale on Aug. 6-9. People with vehicles, large appliances in operable condition and large furniture can call Mona Bernhardt at (847) 838-0718 to schedule a time to have items picked up. St. Raphael is located on Route 173 near Antioch.

Poms team makes nationals:

The Lake Zurich High School Varsity Poms Squad competed at the Universal Dance Association Elite Camp in Bloomington from June 28-July 1. The poms brought home two trophies and placed fourth in the large varsity division. Based on their performance, they will compete at the 2010 National Dance Team Competition in Orlando in February.

Relay for Life in Gurnee:

The American Cancer Society will host a Relay For Life event for the Gurnee and Wadsworth community beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 11 and concluding at 6 a.m. the following day. Registration begins at 4 p.m. at the Warren Township High School O'Plaine Campus. Hundreds are expected to attend the fundraising effort and the public is invited to join them.
