Cops: Round Lake Heights man backs into child

A Round Lake Heights man was issued a citation Tuesday after accidentally backing into a child in his driveway.

Robert Neibergall, 27, of the 800 block of Tomahawk Trail, was issued a citation for reckless driving after hitting the 2-year-old Wisconsin boy in the driveway of the home at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Round Lake Heights Police Chief Don Johnson.

The boy was transfered after the accident via Flight for Life to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Johnson said. He added the boy is recovering well, though his official conditions are unknown.

Johnson said the boy was visiting relatives at the home and was struck by Neibergall while the family was shifting cars around in the driveway.

Officials said alcohol or drug did not play a role in the incident and that it was an "unfortunate accident."
