Solheim Cup race heats up
With the third major of the season, the U.S. Women's Open this week in Bethlehem, Pa. - and the double Solheim Cup points that go along with it - the race to make the 2009 U.S. Solheim Cup team figures to heat up quite a bit.

The top five on the European points list and the top four in the Rolex rankings qualify along with three captain picks.
Moving up: With her tie for second at the Wegmans LPGA, Kristy McPherson earned 30 points and jumped from seventh place to sixth in the 2009 U.S. Solheim Cup team points standings.
Last week, McPherson (67-69-76-66) overcame a 4-over-par 76 in the third round to record her second runner-up finish of the year at 10-under-par 278, 7 strokes behind champion Jiyai Shin. McPherson is in the running for her first Solheim Cup appearance, which will be Aug. 21-23 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove. Paula Creamer continues to lead the points race by nearly 96 points over Cristie Kerr.
Ticket counter: Single-day tickets for the 2009 Solheim Cup at Rich Harvest Farms are now available for purchase while supplies last at all Jewel-Osco locations and at www.SolheimCup.com.
Individual practice-day tickets for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Aug. 18-20) are available for $25 (grounds) and $65 (PING Pavilion), while individual competition-day tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 21-23) are available for $50 (grounds) and $125 (PING Pavilion).
All tickets purchased at Jewel-Osco locations will be in the form of a printed receipt which may be redeemed for a physical ticket(s) beginning during tournament week.
