Young pet lover's memory lives on through carnival for animal shelter
At just 10 years old, Luke Laudolff's love for animals was so great he volunteered most of his free time at the Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin. Luke channeled his affection into visiting the animals regularly, even singing to the cats in the shelter. Tragically, Luke drowned on a family vacation two years ago.
To honor his memory, this year's second annual Luke Laudolff Pet Carnival will again benefit the Anderson Animal Shelter. Last year's inaugural event was a special and moving celebration for Luke's family and the entire community.
The Luke Laudolff Pet Carnival was conceived by longtime family friend and pet product entrepreneur Bobbi Panter to honor the young, gregarious animal lover. The carnival will include pet adoptions, beauty consultations in the Bobbi Panter pet lounge, advice from animal communicators, pet caricatures, pet massages, a silent auction and a variety of raffles, games and fun events for both pets and their owners.
"Luke touched animals and humans, alike. He was such a special boy," Panter said. "Honoring him by helping the animals and shelter that he loved so much is just one small way that we can carry on his legacy in a manner he would have appreciated. He loved to see people having fun with their pets and this event underscores that. His story is one that touches so many hearts."
The pet carnival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Petco Geneva, 1885 S. Randall Road, Geneva. For information call Bobbi Panter Products at (312) 226-0060 or Anderson Animal Shelter, (847) 697-2880.
