Swimming pool, cash offered for murder
Federal prosecutors say an Indiana woman used the offer of an aboveground swimming pool and gas money to hire a hit man to kill an ex-boyfriend with whom she was involved in a child custody dispute.
Authorities say 30-year-old Heidi Friedburg and current boyfriend, 31-year-old William C. Alexander of New Carlisle, Ind., were arrested Monday as they unloaded the dismantled swimming pool in a suburban Chicago parking lot.
FBI spokesman Ross Rice said shortly after the former-boyfriend filed a paternity lawsuit, Friedburg asked a former co-worker, through a text message, to help find a hit man. The former co-worker instead contacted the FBI.
Authorities say Friedburg negotiated payment of the hit man through text messaging, not knowing she eventually would be dealing with an undercover FBI agent, who arranged a meeting that ended in the arrests.
