2 Aurora men get long sentences for racketeering
A federal judge has handed down lengthy sentences to two Aurora men believed to be ranking members of the Insane Deuces street gang.
U.S. District Court Judge Harry Leinenweber sentenced 29-year-old Mariano Morales to life in prison Tuesday and sentenced 33-year-old Arturo Barbosa to 40 years in prison.
Both men were found guilty of racketeering during a December trial. They were among 16 alleged or admitted members of the Insane Deuces charged with racketeering in 2005.
Of the 14 cases that went to trial, all 14 men were convicted. One man pleaded guilty and one is still missing.
Prosecutors say the racketeering convictions tie Morales and Barbosa to three murders, five attempted murders and as much as $1.25 million in drug trafficking.
