Driver in fireworks show death ticketed

ROANOKE -- Authorities have ticketed a central Illinois woman who they say drove a car into a crowd at a fireworks show. One man died in the accident.

Woodford County Sheriff Jim Pierceall says 85-year-old Ruby Kennell of Roanoke was ticketed Monday for failing to slow down as she tried to drive away from Friday's fireworks show in the small town. Pierceall says the accident remains under investigation.

Sixty-year-old Steven Hodel of Roanoke died after he was struck by the car. Two other people were treated at a local hospital.

Kennell declined to comment on the accident Tuesday.
