Route 25 ramps on I-90 to close

Fox Valley area commuters might have to adjust their routes next week.

Westbound exit ramps at Route 25 and Interstate 90 will be closed beginning late Monday night and continuing through late August.

Jan Kemp, spokeswoman for the Illinois Tollway Authority, said work crews will be doing routine maintenance and bridge repair on the ramps at several locations along I-90, also known as the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.

On most, motorists will be detoured to the shoulder. Only the westbound exit ramp to Route 25 and the Route 25 entrance ramp to westbound I-90 will be closed.

"We have several other bridges on I-90 that are also being worked on as well. This one is a little different," Kemp said. "It's not a bridge reconstruction. It's a bridge repair project."

Ramps from I-90 east to Route 25 and Route 25 to eastbound I-90 will remain open.

The tollway will detour motorists that are westbound on the interstate to exit at Beverly Road, travel north to Route 72, then west to reach Route 25.

Traffic on Route 25 looking to get on westbound I-90 will be directed to the Route 31 interchange.

A 45 m.p.h. speed limit is in effect at all times in construction zones, whether or not workers are present.
