Dist. 59 gets high grades from community
Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59 recently released the results of a survey of students, parents and staff to gauge satisfaction levels.
The 2009 survey asked parents and students to rate their school by giving it a grade of "A," "B," "C," and so on. The results show 94 percent of elementary school parents and 90 percent of junior high parents rated their school either "A" or "B."
Similarly, 89 percent each of elementary students and secondary students rated their school either an "A" or "B."
This is the fifth time District 59 has used the Harris Interactive School Poll questionnaire. It was designed to provide school districts with information about "customer" satisfaction in areas like educational programs, facilities and services.
The survey was first administered to the District 59 community in 1998. Over the years, the district has used the survey results to establish priorities for school improvement.
In most cases, District 59's approval ratings are well above national averages, officials said.
