Cops seize 260 pounds of pot in Aurora

More than 260 pounds of marijuana and several pounds of cocaine have been taken off Aurora streets in the last six weeks, authorities announced Thursday.

The drug seizures were the result of a collaborative operation involving the Kane County Sheriff's Department and the West Aurora Weed and Seed Program, which led to six felony arrests since mid-May.

Police said in a news release that the investigations are "the types of cases that lead to an improvement in the quality of life for those who live near and around drug houses."

Those arrested, according to police, were:

• Ricky G. Rosa, 22; Kylie A. Guzzo, 20, and Esequiel Corral, 22, who were charged May 21 after police seized 11 ounces of cocaine and 5 grams of marijuana from their residence on the 900 block of Highland Avenue.

• David U. Gonzalez, 32, who was charged May 29 after detectives searched his residence on the 1300 block of South Fourth Street and found more than 14 pounds of marijuana and four ounces of cocaine.

• Julian Mendez, 36, who was charged after detectives found a loaded handgun, more than 250 pounds of marijuana and six grams of cocaine at his residence on the 800 block of North May Street.

• Plutarco V. Cisneros, 28, who was arrested after three-fourths of a kilogram of cocaine, seven grams of marijuana, $27,000, and a phony driver's license and Social Security card were found in his residence on the 100 block of South Edgelawn Drive.

Police said the suspects face charges ranging from possession of a controlled substance to possession with intent to deliver and unlawful weapon possession.
