Would have liked rebuttal from GOP
As a politically engaged citizen, I find the debates between DuPage County party leaders ("How about a debate to cap off war of words?" June 12) fascinating - they provide a transparent outlook on the state of partisanship in the county.
But one must question the true transparency of politics here. The comments by Democratic leaders, at least as summarized by this article, point out the numerous ethical transgressions of the Republican Party in DuPage County. As a reader, I had hoped for a firm rebuttal of these comments.
However, in response to these legitimate concerns, the Republican leadership has chosen to blackball the Democratic leadership by writing cheap shots such as "Peickert's favorite elected official, Gov. Rod Blagojevich."
In lieu of providing actual information, the Republican leadership has fallen to utilizing cheap tricks unbefitting of a professional party. This debate is about cleaning up DuPage. Until the Republican leadership supplies legitimate information instead of personal attacks and political mind games, this discussion is completely one-sided. Supply facts, not fiction.
