Naperville police nab Oswego man in Internet sting

Naperville police have arrested an Oswego man who is accused of soliciting what he thought was a young girl over the Internet.

Larry A. Larson, 43, of 15 E. Lyncliff, Oswego, is charged with traveling to meet a minor, indecent solicitation of a child and grooming, all of which are felonies, according to police.

Grooming is the development of a relationship with a minor for the purpose of engaging in sexual activities, according to Sgt. Gregg Bell.

Undercover Naperville officers were patrolling Internet chat rooms when Larson approached one of the detectives who he believed was a 14-year-old girl, Bell said.

Larson sent a sexually explicit webcam video to the undercover officer and arranged a meeting in south Naperville in order to have a sexual liaison, police said.

After a weeklong investigation, police arrested Larson about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot along 95th Street. He is being held at the Will County jail on $60,000 bond.

Bell said he is not aware of any young girls being involved at this point but police have seized several computers from Larson's home and will examine them to determine if additional crimes have been committed.

Naperville police were assisted by the attorney general's office as well as police from Oswego and Geneva.
