Hear how federal stimulus affects Aurora at Chamber event
Old Second National Bank and Rush-Copley Medical Center, Inc. will sponsor the Greater Aurora Chamber of Commerce Federal Stimulus Lunch. As chief operating officer for Illinois, Jack Lavin will oversee the estimated $9 billion stimulus funding Illinois is set to receive over the next few years. According to some reports, that package breaks down to $2.9 billion for Medicaid, $2 billion for school aid, $110 million for work force investment programs and $276 million for "green" jobs and weatherization programs.
Another $2 billion could be received for infrastructure and capital projects. Nearly half of that would go to rebuilding highways and bridges with the balance going to a number of projects including transit assistance, public housing, education technology and energy programs.
What does all of this mean for the greater Aurora region? Join the group from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 8 at the Fox Valley Country Club, 2500 N. Route 25 in North Aurora to find out. Jack Lavin will be guest speaker at the lunch program to share his insight and answer questions.
Reservations can be made online at www.aurorachamber.com, or by calling the chamber's reservation hotline at (630) 897-3751. The cost is $25 for members and potential members are $35, payable in advance. The chamber's 72 hour cancellation policy applies.
