Arlington Hts. arrest 1 after police chase

A man involved in an altercation with a woman he had recently met ran from an Arlington Heights police officer early Tuesday and ended up charged with burglary to a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

Pierre L. Pertiller, 24, who lists his address as a shelter in the 1100 block of East Northwest Highway in Palatine, was heard arguing loudly with a woman from Michigan at about 2 a.m. near Oakton Street and Harvard Avenue, said Arlington Heights Commander Kenneth Galinski Jr.

Neighbors called police, and police say Pertiller allegedly ran. The pursuing officer lost him when he tripped over a small fence. Officers saw Pertiller about an hour later near Sigwalt Street and Ridge Avenue.

Police said he struggled with officers and admitted he had broken into a car to take change, said Galinski.

Bond was set at $25,000.

Earlier this year Pertiller pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in McHenry County in connection with allegations he unlawfully touched a 13-year-old girl.
