Fox River boating restrictions lifted from Stratton Lock to Algonquin Dam

The Fox Waterway Agency in Fox Lake will officially lift boating restrictions on the Fox River between Stratton-Bolger Lock and Dam and the Algonquin Dam at 10 a.m., officials announced.

The announcement comes 48 hours after officials lifted restrictions between McHenry's Stratton-Bolger Lock and Dam north to the Wisconsin border - including the Chain O' Lakes. The lower river has been restricted to no-wake status during that time.

The waterway agency continues to warn boaters to be wary of floating debris and to take caution against swift moving currents.

The lakes and river were restricted due to heavy rain in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois in mid-June.
