Chicago cop indicted on charges of hitting suspect
A Chicago police officer who was attached to a federal drug task force has been indicted on charges that accuse him of hitting a suspect while arresting him.
Thirty-eight-year-old Craig Switowicz was charged in the indictment announced Wednesday with depriving the man he struck of his civil rights.
The indictment was returned in Milwaukee after federal prosecutors in Chicago stepped out of the case. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago declined to comment.
But it appears the prosecutors bowed out of the case because they had contact with Switowicz when he was working on the federal task force.
