1 hurt in Gurnee rollover accident

One person was slightly injured in a single-vehicle rollover accident Tuesday morning at Route 45 and Stearns School Road near Gurnee.

The driver, a 21-year-old Lindenhurst man, told police he had just gotten off the midnight shift and was tired when the accident occurred about 8 a.m., Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Christopher Thompson said.

While driving west on Stearns School Road, the vehicle drifted to the right and the driver overcorrected and turned to the left, causing it to flip over, Thompson said. No charges will be filed in the case.

The driver "refused rescue", Thompson said, and told police family members would take him to the hospital if he was not feeling well. No other passengers were in the vehicle, which was totaled.

Both roads remained open despite the accident, although traffic was slow moving through the intersection.
