Chicago museum to premiere new 'Potter' film on Omnimax screen

Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry plans to show the new Harry Potter film in its five-story high Omnimax theater.

The museum says it'll be one of just three large-format theaters nationwide to show "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" on the day of the film's world premiere, July 15. Midnight screenings of the sixth installment in the Potter movie series begin on July 15 and run through July 19.

The museum will continue to show the movie several times during the day until Sept. 27. That corresponds with the run of a Harry Potter exhibit that had its world premiere at the museum in May.

"Harry Potter: the Exhibition" features costumes and "artifacts" in a magical shopping strip based on author J.K. Rowling's best-selling series of books.
