Rolling Meadows firm fined $50K in ticket sales investigation
Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. subsidiary TicketsNow has reached an agreement with Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan after complaints of overly high-priced tickets to Hannah Montana and Bruce Springsteen concerts.
Madigan's office discovered Rolling Meadows-based TicketsNow operated Web sites with domain names that misled customers to believe they were affiliated with actual event operators. Customers thought they were paying face-value prices but instead were paying higher resale prices.
TicketsNow has agreed not to use such sites and to make it clear they are reselling tickets. Also, the resale tickets won't be available until Ticketmaster begins selling face-value tickets.
TicketsNow also will pay $50,000 for consumer fraud enforcement and education.
