WCC career fair
Waubonsee Community College will host its "Brighter Futures" kickoff event from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 in the Academic and Professional Center on the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. The free event will provide information on conducting job searches, finding the right career, maintaining financial health, surviving tough times, and 21st century careers, including health care and education. Donate garage sale items
Rover Rescue is looking for donations for its annual garage sale benefiting homeless dogs. The garage sale will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 31 and Saturday, Aug. 1 at 326 Sharon Lane in North Aurora. Items needed for the sale include household goods, tools, sports equipment, kitchen utensils, glassware, toys, baby furniture, baskets, holiday decorations, small appliances, paperbacks and clothing. Calling all bands
Marklund is seeking six bands to participate in its third annual "Battle of the Bands" Music Fest from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 at Marklund's Mill Creek Campus, 1 South 450 Wyatt Drive, in Geneva. Marklund is a nonprofit network of services providing a full-life experience for infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities. Registration deadline for bands is July 6. Music Fest is a free outdoor festival celebrating local talent and offering family entertainment. The event is held for Marklund's residents, employees, families and friends, as well for the public. Bands of any type of music are invited to participate. There are two divisions: 18 and younger and 18 and older. Every Wednesday in June, the Batavia Creamery and A+DJ host Weekend Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. Hear your music requests while enjoying ice cream treats at the shop on the northwest corner of the Donovan Bridge on Wilson Street.
