Speaker thanks Noon Kiwanis for helping ailing veterans
The Kiwanis Club of Elgin meets Tuesdays at The Hickory Stick Bar & Grille Restaurant, 875 Sports Way, at the city-owned Highlands of Elgin golf course. There is an $11 charge for lunch, which begins at noon. The program begins at 12:30 p.m., which is free.
On June 23, the guest speaker was Commander Patrick Green, Northern Sector Regional Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Tri-City Evergreen VFW Post in West Dundee. He is also a board member of the Hebron Transitional Living Services for veterans.
Green thanked the Noon Kiwanis Club for their recent donation and spoke of the need for recognition and support for our veterans. He said the Hebron facility helps homeless and other veterans in need, providing care, training and limited housing. Their aim is to help veterans become productive members of society.
On Tuesday, June 30, the speaker will be U.S. Rep. Bill Foster of the 14th District of Illinois.
