Investigation continues into fatal Deer Park crash
Kildeer Police continue to investigate a weekend car crash that killed three people in Deer Park.
The head-on crash between a taxi and a Lexus occurred about 5:10 a.m. Saturday, June 27 at Lake-Cook Road and Park Hill Drive.
The taxi driver, Jozef Zwalimski, 51, of Palatine, as well as the driver of the Lexus, Alonso Ramos-Gomez, 22, of West Dundee, were found dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Lexus, Octavio Carrera, 23, of Palatine, died a at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. A second Lexus passenger also was taken to Good Shepherd but the condition or identity of that person was not released.
Kildeer Police was investigating with the assistance of the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County.
Police were unavailable for comment Sunday. Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said crash data recorders, if installed in the vehicles, could yield information from five to 10 seconds before the air bags deployed. That could include whether a seat belt was engaged or whether a vehicle was accelerating or breaking. Police were looking into that aspect of the crash, Keller said.
