Obama will not, cannot destroy U.S.

A letter published on June 15 states that Obama and his ilk can destroy this country's foundation within 10 years. This is a ludicrous statement given the number of challenges this country has withstood since its founding.

Oversimplified statements that Obama is ruining the country only serve to indicate that the complaint you have is not with what he has done as president, but with the man, himself. I urge all citizens to challenge the individuals who make such statements to back them up with facts so we do not allow a biased fraction of the country to spread fear and loathing under the pretext of protecting the country.

The current average approval rating for Obama of about 64 percent puts him in the company of Eisenhower and FD Roosevelt. I do not know whether this level of approval will stick over the course of his tenure, but it clearly indicates that the views expressed on June 15 are disconnected from the majority of the rest of the country.
