Fire damages Hampshire building

A fire in mulch around an air conditioner damaged a six-residence building in Hampshire Saturday.

Firefighters were called at 5:08 p.m. to 1049 Como Circle when residents noticed smoke near a patio area. The fire traveled from the mulch into the vinyl siding, melting it.

No one was injured or displaced. Fire officials have not determined what started the fire in the mulch, such as an electrical problem with the air conditioner or a discarded cigarette.
