Christian Development Corp. rebuilding in Elgin

Elgin Christian Development Corporation, in partnership with 18 West Elgin churches, has been participating in a rehabilitation project called "Blitz Build 2009" since Saturday, June 20.

This year's "Blitz Build" includes the renovation of two, 12-unit apartment buildings on Abbot Drive, half used as transitional housing for residents in the ECDC's program, and a kitchen at Elgin Community Church, 991 Deborah Ave., to be used as a community center.

The Elgin Christian Development Corporation is currently located in the church.

The Elgin Christian Development Corporation is a non- profit organization committed to uniting churches, rebuilding lives and meeting the wholistic community development needs on Elgin's west side.

Thousands of dollars in donated supplies and skilled labor, including 100-plus volunteers, some of who are Judson University architectural students, will have been helped by the end of the week.
