In light of murder, is it really pro-life?

In his Fence Post letter last Saturday entitled "Choice of words shows bias in media", Ed Smetana raises a valid point. The media should depict both sides of the abortion debate equally as pro- or anti-, as in pro-choice and pro-life, rather than pro-choice and anti-abortion.

Mr. Smetana's letter seemed to lean toward using the 'pro-' option.

However, I wonder if he would like to reconsider his choice of "pro-life" given the murder of Dr. George Tiller.

It's sad that while George Bush, a pro-life president, was in office, there were no murders of abortion providers. But under Clinton there were 6 doctors and staffers murdered, and 17 attempted murders.

In the last year of the Bush administration there were 396 harassing calls to abortion clinics. In just the first four months of the Obama administration that number has jumped to 1401 according to Cristina Page in "The Murder of Dr. Tiller, a Foreshadowing," Huffington Post, June 1, 2009.

Sadly it appears that the activists become enraged when a pro-choice president takes office, and "pro-life" becomes "pro-people we deem worthy to live."
