Woman injured in house explosion

Officials say a woman was injured when a house exploded in Romeoville .

The Romeoville Fire Department says contractors were working Wednesday on curbs and sidewalks on the street where the explosion occurred. But the cause of the explosion, which destroyed one home and damaged another, hasn't been determined.

The department didn't provide the woman's condition or name. Area residents were evacuated to the Romeoville Recreation Center.

Nicor Gas spokeswoman Annette Martinez says crews went to the scene to shut off gas. They're testing the area for possible leaks.

Martinez says crews will determine whether the gas main was involved in the incident. She says if it was, the company will investigate.
