Register for fall classes:
Open registration for summer and fall credit classes at Elgin Community College will continue until classes start, space permitting. Summer classes begin the weeks of June 29 and July 13. Fall 16-week classes begin the week of Aug. 24; 12-week classes begin the week of Sept. 21; and eight-week classes begin the week of Oct. 19. Early registration is advised to get the best selection of courses and times. Students with an ECC identification number can register online at elgin.edu/accessecc. Otherwise, registration may be made in person at the registration center in Room 165 of the Student Resource Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The registration center is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The college is closed Fridays through Aug. 7. Students will be expected to provide proof of having met course prerequisites, if documentation is not already on file with the ECC records office. Students with outstanding financial obligations to the college may not register until all bills are settled. For details, visit elgin.edu/register.
WCC career fair:
Waubonsee Community College will host its "Brighter Futures" kickoff event from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Academic and Professional Center on the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. The event, which is free, will provide information on conducting job searches, finding the right career, maintaining financial health, surviving tough times, and 21st-century careers, including health care and education. Quilters needed:
Quilters and vendors are needed for the third annual Quilt and Textile Show July 17 to 19 at the Eastside Community Center in Batavia. The show will feature quilts, weaving and spinning demonstrations and quilt and textile sales.
