Chicago museum hits attendance record
CHICAGO -- Anniversaries can be good for business. Just ask Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.
Officials say the museum drew 19,955 guests on June 19. That's the highest single-day attendance in more than 10 years.
People crowded into the museum that day as it celebrated its 76th anniversary with free general admission. Displays included a permanent submarine exhibit. There was also an exhibition devoted to Harry Potter and a virtual tour of the World's Fair in Chicago.
The museum's last 20,000-plus day was on Dec. 28, 1995. On that day, more than 30,000 people came through the museum's doors.
